We follow the prophets of our times
But since men have been granted civilization
Religion has passed through many different hands
The same primeval mythology translated and adapted
Let’s bring the accused at the trial of our faltering memory
The spruce, pine or fir who masqueraded as the Christmas tree
The plaintiff is the palm tree, his witnesses are three wise men from the desert
So we shall put our dreams and our memories in a large body-bag
And until next year we’ll keep our beliefs in hiding
