Did we fall asleep at the wheel
Sitting comfortably numb, feet resting on the table
Watching the present slowly moving into the future
As if this was a neverending TV series or soap opera
The thunder of the news that Carnival is dead
Was drowned in the fears of a lethal disease
And the BLM noise distracted our attention
It froze the rage like cooling lava
Into grotesque statues of a mixed defeat
Now everything is back to their own normal
The divergent opinions gagged by social media
The joke of virtual Carnival is served
Adding insult to injury
What have we learned ?
Kelso Cochrane, Mark Duggan, where are you ?
